Night Horrors
I produced most of these in 2007, when I was working on the edge of Sydney's affluent North Shore. Here I was surrounded by almost unspoiled natural bushland, and most of my colleagues were attractive young women. Many of these images seek to capture the alienation and depression I experienced in this superficially idyllic environment. Others seek to recast the innocuous in a vaguely threatening light. Natalie and Jade come from a very different place. Both are far from innocent, but they helped to keep me relatively sane. -JF

Abominations
These nightmarish beings were conceived in 2007. All are derived from human stock, though their forms have been horribly distorted by hatred, fear and suffering. Some viewers see them as demons, and others creations of twisted science. In truth, they are allegorical works that reveal the worst of the human psyche. -JF

Culture Wars
These black and white cartoons were begun in late 2007. Some deal with contemporary politics, but most provide a scathing critique of human stupidity. Given the state of the world today, I don't have to look far for inspiration.

Dark Visions
I drew these monochromatic pen and ink sketches between 2003 and 2005. Stylistically, they are similar to the work I was doing at high school, all of which is now destroyed. After several years' abstinence from visual art, it took two more years of practise before I regained my former skills. The images here are in part a reaction to a crisis I suffered in 2003. They are generally more anti-religious than any of my previous work. -JF

Napalm Excursion
These hallucinogenic images are more disturbing than they first appear. Here the disarmingly cute meets the bizarre and repellent. One of my friends prefers this series above all others, though he is alone in this matter. I have not worked in this style for some time; the images here were all created with pen, ink and photoshop between 2003 and 2006. -JF.

Sick Stuff
I have included some garish cartoons for your amusement or contempt. These take an hour to complete at the most with pen, ink and photoshop. Some are simply absurdist works. Others poke fun at popular culture, or hint at the possibility, if not the attainment, of that elusive thing called happiness. I started these in 2002 and probably won't stop any time soon. -JF

Meat Factory
Here are some more colour works that refuse to be categorised. The earliest date from 2003. Some are reworkings of earlier themes which I thought were necessary as my abilities improved. Discerning viewers will probably be able to separate the oldest from the most recent. "Manipulation" and "Twilight Earth" are the latest manifestations of ideas that first appeared in 1994 and 2000 respectively. -JF

The Laboratory
This gallery documents a work in progress. The stages are discussed along with the techniques used. I still have some way to go before I master Photoshop, but if you're learning how it works, I might be able to save you some time.

Charnel House
I started this series in 2008. It is the direct successor to "Abominations." My improved technical skills and command of Photoshop allow me to create even more nightmarish beings in a fraction of the time.
